The Chicago White Sox All-Star Snub Nobody Is Talking About

He ranks in the top 25th percentile of MLB pitchers in hard-hit rate, barrel rate, and average exit velocity, making a strong case for All-Star consideration that has largely gone unnoticed.

Colson Montgomery finished fourth among American League shortstops in fan voting despite posting an .802 OPS with 20 home runs. Blue Jays shortstop Andrés Giménez received more votes despite carrying a .620 OPS and 13 fewer home runs than Montgomery.

Murakami launched 20 home runs in just 200 at-bats yet finished only third among American League third basemen in All-Star fan voting. His power production in limited at-bats made his omission one of the more puzzling results of the voting process.

Meidroth was tied for the highest fWAR among American League second basemen when All-Star voting closed, yet he failed to crack the top five at his position in fan voting. His advanced metrics made him one of the stronger snub cases on the White Sox roster.

Newcomb has served as a valuable innings eater out of the bullpen, a role Vasil held last season before being lost for the year to Tommy John surgery. Through his first 31 appearances, Newcomb has already logged 49.2 innings and is well on pace to surpass 100 innings on the season.
