The Baseball Gods Owe Tommy Pham One, They Paid The Chicago White Sox Back In Game 2

Pham crushed a first-pitch fastball 366 feet toward the left-field wall at 106 mph with a 31-degree launch angle, but Angel Martinez caught it and fired to first base for an inning-ending double play. Of the 82 balls hit at those exact metrics in MLB this season, 81 were home runs, making the out a freak occurrence.

Pham reportedly asked Manfred if something was going on with the baseballs, joking, 'How am I supposed to get a job next year if that ball don't go out?' Pham later took to X to clarify he was joking and accused the reporter who published the quote of using it as clickbait.

Braden Montgomery delivered a go-ahead double with runners on second and third and two outs in the sixth inning, putting the White Sox ahead 3-2. Chase Meidroth followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-2.

Adell hit a ball at 108 mph that traveled an estimated 413 feet, which would have been a home run in 19 of MLB's 30 ballparks, but the wind blowing in caused it to slam off the top of the left-field wall. He was held to a triple, and Grant Taylor escaped the jam by getting Nathaniel Lowe to pop out.

Taylor delivered a four-inning save in Game 1 to secure a 3-0 White Sox victory, then came back in Game 2 to protect a 4-2 lead and close out a 4-3 win. His back-to-back clutch performances gave Chicago a 2-0 series lead in the ALDS.
