Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Tyler Dunne and why did he write a hit piece on Caleb Williams?
Tyler Dunne is the owner and primary columnist of GoLongTD.com and a longtime reporter who previously covered the Buffalo Bills and Green Bay Packers. He published a massive three-part story about Bears franchise dysfunction, with the first part claiming Williams was difficult to work with, often tuned out coaches, and lacked the necessary work ethic. Dunne also implied Williams and Ben Johnson would never successfully work together.
Did Caleb Williams prove Tyler Dunne's hit piece wrong?
Yes, Williams and Johnson led the Bears to a top-10 offense and a division title, then beat Dunne's beloved Packers in the playoffs. Johnson had nothing but praise for Williams' work ethic and commitment from the moment they began working together, directly contradicting the anonymous sources Dunne cited.
What is Tyler Dunne saying about Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson now?
Dunne is suggesting that Case Keenum's excellent game against Philadelphia might give Johnson second thoughts about Williams. Most Bears fans and analysts see this as Dunne clinging to his original narrative despite it being largely discredited by what happened on the field in 2024.
How did Caleb Williams perform on opening day of the 2025 season?
Williams posted 4 touchdowns and a 70% completion rate as the Bears put up 59 points on opening day. It was a strong statement that he and Ben Johnson can work together effectively.
Who were the anonymous sources in Tyler Dunne's Bears story likely to be?
The article suggests that most of Dunne's anonymous sources were likely coaches and staff members who got fired during the Bears' front-office and coaching shakeup. Those individuals would naturally be inclined to blame Williams rather than accept responsibility for their own shortcomings.
